About us

What is TED?

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TED Talks are posted daily; TED Translators, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; the educational initiative TED-Ed. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to funding ideas with the potential to create change at thrilling scale; TEDx, which supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organized TED-style events around the world, and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

So, what's TEDxOdense?

TEDx is an offshoot of TED where independent, self-organized events bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The TED Conference provides general guidance for TEDx organizations.

TEDxOdense is a nonprofit organization planned by volunteers and financially supported by the generous help of fantastic corporate partners and ticket sales.

Our main goal is to organize annual TEDxOdense events, creating a movement around Ideas Worth Spreading to further connect Odense’s community. We do this through deep discussion and connections made by speakers, volunteers, and attendees during the TEDxOdense event.

Steffie Limère and Adam Montandon are the TEDxOdense license holders.

Our philosophy

TEDxOdense is all about sparking conversation and making great ideas accessible, right here in the heart of Odense. TEDxOdense brings together a community of changemakers. We believe passion is contagious, so want Odense to be inspired by our speakers’ enthusiasm and commitment to innovation. TEDxOdense has a natural knack for inspiring its attendees to open their minds to new philosophies and ideas. Not only is it common to discover new aspirations, it’s almost become expected.

We create a unique space where we expand perceptions and allow people to think.
We incorporate people in the ideas of tomorrow.
We strive for new ways to develop ourselves and our ideas.

Steffie Limère

Head organizer and co-license holder

Steffie is the head organizer and co-license holder for TEDxOdense. She started as a TEDx organizer in 2014, where she ran a university TEDx event: TEDxEAL. After two great TEDxEAL editions, she and Adam decided to take it to a city level, and then TEDxOdense was born. Besides TEDx, Steffie runs her own event company, Unfolding Events, where she works as a freelance event manager and works on events such as Thinkers50, Schunk Expert Days, and her own event concepts such as Factory of Imagination.

I was introduced to TED through my dad when I was 17. He would send me links to TED video’s that I had to watch. Stubborn as I was, it took me some years before I took his advice. Since then, I fell in love with it. I then started as a volunteer at a local TEDx and discovered the TEDx magic. When I moved to Odense I saw there was no local TEDx event yet, so I took the opportunity to start one.
